The goal of the product description page redesign was to make it more scalable from previous iterations.
The introduction of more product angles, elevated marketing photography, product videos and user-generated content better feature products but would need to be accounted for in the new layout. The new composition would also essential product details, style notes and attributes closer to product photography.
Additional functionality for out-of-stock items features a carousel in a modal featuring similar styles with a rescue call-to-action to the category grid.
Since marketing photography features prominently on products that have elevated content available, the layout needed to deteriorate elegantly for various situations on all breakpoints.
